It was not to be for Dodge's Leo Soisalo in Palermo as a sprint to the line ended in disappointment. The Finn finished seventh on the day and sixth overall in the General Classification at the Giro di Sicilia.
Despite being unable to add to the team's palmares, the 25-year-old admitted that he could take some lessons from the tour and vowed to end up on the podium in the near future.
Soisalo finished second in the opening time trial in Catania, but ended up losing bonus seconds in every subsequent sprint stage to the spring specialists. The hills on the last stage offered some respite, but entering the final 100m still with a bunch of sprinters meant it was a bridge too far for the Dodge rider.
The tour also proved a send off of sorts for Eustachy Iwan, as the 42-year-old called time on his career. The Polish rider won the Rolleston Time Trial in Season 56 but mainly served as a faithful domestique for the Australian outfit.
